The North Carolina Architectural Foundation

May We Re-Introduce Ourselves!

The North Carolina Architectural Foundation (NCAF) is the only nonprofit organization in North Carolina whose sole mission is to promote the appreciation of architecture and architects among the public.

The NCAF has evolved throughout its history, and recently adopted new bylaws, policies, messaging, and branding to prepare for a fresh reintroduction to the North Carolina public.

We invite you to become a part of the NCAF as a “Friend of Architecture in North Carolina” or FANC. As a FANC, your donations to the NCAF (as a 501c3) are tax-deductible, and you are invited to join.

Originally formed in 1948 and becoming a 501c3 in 2016, the NCAF has an independent board of trustees and maintains a valued affiliation with AIANC. The NCAF has evolved throughout its history, and recently adopted new bylaws, policies, messaging, and branding to prepare for a fresh reintroduction to the North Carolina public.

What we have done in the past:

  • Promoted the value of North Carolina’s architectural assets and architects.

  • Provided financial assistance for communities of need.

  • Supported diversity in architecture through an educational grant.

  • Awarded scholarships to deserving architecture students.

  • Underwritten architectural education publications.

  • Supplemented financing for creating the AIANC Center for Architecture & Design.

  • Assisted future leaders' attendance at AIANC Design Conferences and Aspire.

  • Recognized modern architecture and practicing architects.

What we will do in the future:

  • Inform and educate the public about how architecture is created.

  • Support programs that inform the public of the benefits of the work of architects.

  • Advance the appreciation of North Carolina’s past, present, and future architectural treasures.

  • Award programs that inspire young people of color to become architects.

  • Advance the imperative to build for sustainability, resilience & energy efficiency.

  • Award grants for new worthy endeavors to fulfill the NCAF mission.

  • Do even more as financial giving permits.

And watch for more about the work and impact of the
