Architect/Intern Architect

Pfirman Architect is seeking applicants with at least three years of experience in a professional architect’s office.  Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in architecture and be on track for licensure, or already hold a license to practice architecture.

Current projects range from luxury, water-oriented residences, community clubhouses/amenity structures, urban-infill townhomes, and light commercial buildings. Our office is usually involved in at least one small, typically urban-infill development project of our own, every year as well.   

The qualified candidate will work on all phases of the pre-design, design, and construction process. This is a position with room for advancement, growth, and potential long-term employment. The projects are exciting and creative with much opportunity for design and collaboration.

Responsibilities:

  • Meet with clients to establish needs and goals

  • Review building codes, zoning ordinances, CAMA regulations, etc.

  • Prepare site analysis drawings and document project limits and restraints

  • Prepare documents and presentations for variance hearings

  • Sketch and design concepts and details in a collaborative setting

  • Create drawings and renderings to communicate design solutions

  • Pitch design ideas to clients

  • Create accurate construction drawings

  • Communicate with builders and subcontractors during construction

  • Conduct site visits and document project progress

  • Be able to steer when we visit projects by boat

 

Skills:

  • Manage multiple projects concurrently

  • Proficiency in Autocad, Revit, Enscape, Sketchup, and/or similar software

  • Communicate clearly with clients and contractors

  • Troubleshoot software problems, general computer knowledge

 Compensation/benefits:

 This position is open to a wide range of candidates with varied experience.  The salary range reflects this opportunity:  $55,000 - $110,000
