We are seeking a Project Manager that will perform difficult professional work participating in the planning, design, construction and project management of a variety of public projects.
The Project Manager will build strong OneCary relationships and work collaboratively across multiple departments. Successful candidates will collaborate in a fast-paced, evolving environment and must be able to adapt to change through continuous learning while empowering others through shared knowledge. The Project Manager will champion and steward Cary's unique culture, lead by example, take on adaptive challenges and challenge themselves as well as other colleagues to experiment, fail and adjust when working on problems that require more than just a technical solution. Position will require proficient written and oral communication skills in order to communicate with various audiences including Town Council, the development community and the public. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Facilities Design and Construction Manager.
Requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in architecture, civil engineering, landscape architecture, construction management or a closely related field. Also requires a minimum of three years of progressive experience in design, construction or project management of public type projects.
Preference will be given to candidates that have the following:
Experience with the use of technology (CADD, GIS, Photoshop, Sketchup, IoT, Social Media, etc.
Experience and enthusiasm for public speaking and making presentations
Desire to seek out, foster and implement change
Desire to build collaborative groups within the organization
Ability to learn and adapt in an agile environment
Ability to work on a variety of tasks while being extremely organized and detail-oriented
Candidates with an Engineer-Intern certificate, Professional Architect (PA), Professional Landscape Architect (PLA), Professional Engineering License (PE), or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification are highly desired. Requires a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
