Edgens Herzog Architects is a growing firm, specializing in high end, custom projects, with offices in Asheville and Highlands NC. We are located in the beautiful smoky mountains of western North Carolina where we have earned a reputation throughout the area for our strong focus on design excellence, creative problem-solving, team-based approach and high level of client service.

Our work consists primarily of custom, high-end residential projects but also includes mixed use, education and clubhouse architecture. In all of our projects we strive for sustainable design, creative solutions to complex site conditions, adherence to budget and beauty.

It is critical that applicants have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with contractors, real estate agents, city officials, interior and landscape professionals and other members of the project team.  The applicant must thrive in a deadline based, collaborative firm environment. It is important that the applicant be able to draw by hand and comfortable expressing themselves, and collaborating with others, graphically.

We are looking for applicants at most all levels of experience who are immersed in Architecture and the creative process. We welcome applicants who strive to learn and grow with every project. Ideal applicants understand the significance of history in Architecture but also have the desire to innovate and create. We welcome applicants with unique backgrounds in areas such as woodworking or interior detailing.

Our work is varied, and we all perform multiple tasks. Our firm culture encourages responsibility and promotes personal growth. With two offices, there is room for advancement based upon performance and growth. Positions are available at both our Asheville office and our Highlands office.

Qualified candidates shall:

  • Hold a Bachelor or Masters Degree of Architecture

  • Hold a state license or are on track to obtain a license to practice architecture in the United States

  • Have at least 3 years of experience in an Architecture firm.

  • Have strong design ability as well as exceptional organizational and communication skills

  • Be proficient in AutoCAD and preferably have Revit, Sketchup, Photo Shop and Excel/Word skills as well.

  • Be comfortable with, and skilled at, the management of members of project teams including; other architects, interior designers, contractors and supervisors, developers and real estate professionals, surveyors and governmental entities, and landscape architects.
