Summit Design and Engineering Services is seeking Project Architects to join our architectural team.  One position will be based in Raleigh and the other one will be based in Asheville.  Summit is committed to training and advancement of our employees. The Project Architects  will be responsible for the technical and production aspects of projects from design development through implementation.  The Project Architect will work collaboratively with other Architects and Engineers in the direction and execution of project work and in the documentation of project scope. The Project Architect will provide construction and contract administration services. 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide Construction Administration services for various projects
  • Develop design drawings, such as plans, sections, elevations and models using Revit and AutoCAD
  • Quality control of documentation.
  • Provide field review to make sure what is being built is exactly what has been submitted in order to resolve any issues or problems during construction.
  • Confer with clients, engineers, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development.
  • Coordination of project design and project team
  • Prepare and review Addenda, Bulletins, Change Orders, Field Observation Reports, Applications for Payments, Construction Documents, Shop Drawings, and materials for compliance with design intent and requirements.
  • Create contract documents 

Requirements:

  • Architectural degree from an accredited institution
  • 7+ years of experience, with at least 3 years as a licensed Architect and progressive responsibilities in all phases of architecture and experience in the Construction Administration Phase of projects.
  • Must have strong construction knowledge and be able to communicate with architects, engineers, and construction managers as well as other consultants and clients.  
  • Ability to develop solutions to technical challenges
  • Solid understanding of drawing conventions, file organization, external references and technical accuracy
  • Experience using Revit, AutoCAD, 3D Studio Max and Google Sketch-Up
  • Demonstrated knowledge of architectural design, detailing, building materials, building codes, construction techniques, and costs.
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of general architectural practice including programming, site planning, civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering.
  • Highly motivated with a commitment to design excellence
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
