AIA North Carolina PAC
Jim Rains, AIA (National AIA PAC Chair)
Dear AIA North Carolina Members:
The AIA’s advocacy efforts are more advanced, more successful than ever before in the history of the Institute. As we weather these difficult economic times, the policy debate in Washington continues to change on a day-to-day basis. The decisions that are made affect our livelihoods and our communities. If we are not the ones that shape our AIA, our agenda, and our future as a profession, others will do it for us. Interesting times these may be, but they also provide an opportunity never before seen in our lifetime to be heard – loudly and as one unified voice.
To do that, I am asking you to respond to action alerts, visit your lawmakers to discuss the AIA’s key issues, and to support both the national and local PACs. ArchiPAC is the AIA’s only political action committee at the federal level, and AIANC PAC is the only one at the state level. These are the mechanisms for architects to voice the AIA’s positions to our elected leaders on issues affecting the built environment, our profession, our communities and our practices.
I know many of us are facing tough times. But if every AIA member in North Carolina gave the equivalent of just a dime a day to the AIANC PAC, only $36.50 a year, we would raise over $90,000 for the state; if every member of the AIA gave the same amount to ArchiPAC, we'd be over $2 million! Together, we can create a strong PAC if each AIA member makes just a small commitment. AIA dues cannot be used to support candidates, so we are relying on your contributions. Sign up to give $3 or $5 a month; it is only one less latte a month and it will make a huge difference in our efforts to help architects weather these difficult times.
Making this investment of your time, money, and energy is the right thing to do, and now, more than ever, is the time to do it. Thank you for your support on behalf of the profession and the AIA.
